KVCA Announces its 2012 Region Recognitions
LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 17, 2012) – The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) announced its sixth-annual Region Players and Region Coaches of the Year today. All recipients will be honored at the 2012 KHSAA State Tournament at Valley High School in Louisville, in ceremonies directly preceding the State Championship match on Oct. 27.
Skip Cottrell of Southwestern High School is the only coach who received a third consecutive Region Coach of the Year award in 2012; he has now won the Region 12 award in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Liberty Roberts of Corbin High School is being honored for the second time, having won the award in 2011 and 2012.
Three players, Jessie Stone (Caldwell County), Erin Cottrell (Southwestern), and Vanessa Wiseman (Corbin) are receiving Region Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. Recognitions were voted on by KVCA member coaches.
