2018 KVCA All-State & Player of the Year Awards
LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 29, 2018) – The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association is pleased to announce its 2018 All-State Teams, Ms. Kentucky Volleyball, KVCA Defensive Player of the Year and KVCA Coach of the Year. Each All-State team features at least two athletes from both AA and A programs.

Rylee Rader of Assumption High School is the 2018 Ms. Kentucky Volleyball. Rader, a junior middle blocker, has helped lead her team with over 360 kills on a .563 hitting percentage to an undefeated 2018 season and the KHSAA State Title. Rader is the sixth KVCA Ms. Kentucky Volleyball awarded to a student-athlete at Assumption.

Eleanor Beavin of Mercy Academy is the 2018 KVCA Defensive Player of the Year. Beavin is the inaugural winner of the KVCA Defensive Player of the Year. Kentucky has established itself as one the premier states in terms of developing and producing top college liberos with the likes of Morgan Hentz at Stanford and Kenzie Maloney at Nebraska. Beavin, a sophomore libero, led Mercy with over 500 digs at a pace of nearly 6 per set. Mercy ended the season by winning its 20th consecutive Region 6 championship and runner-up finish at the KHSAA State Tournament.

Coach Ron Kordes of Assumption High School is the 2018 KVCA Coach of the Year. This is the first season in which the KVCA has selected a Coach of the Year. A decorated coach already, Kordes coached his team to an undefeated record, several #1 national rankings, and Assumption’s 21st KHSAA State Title.

KVCA All-State Teams are voted on by KVCA member coaches.





2018 KVCA Region Coaches and Players of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 16, 2018) – The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) is proud to announce its eleventh-annual Region Players and Region Coaches of the Year. All recipients will be honored at the 2018 KHSAA State Tournament at Valley High School in Louisville during ceremonies between the semi-final matches on Saturday, October 27. 

Selections were voted on by KVCA member coaches.

2018 KVCA Coaches Clinic
Thank you to everyone that was able to attend the 2018 KVCA Coaches Clinic!

It was great to see all of you and we hope you learned something useful for the upcoming season.Special thanks to our presenting coaches James Neyhouse, Richard Weaver, Dan Meske, and Jonea Rima!

Also, thank you to Bart Catlett and Elizabethtown High School for hosting us.Good luck to everyone as teams are being finalized and preseason practices get underway.


2018 KVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 17, 2018) – The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association is proud to announce the 2018 KVCA Team Academic Award. Through a Signature Affiliate Partnership with the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the teams being recognized were able maintain academic excellence for the entire 2017/18 academic school year. To qualify, teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Nominations for the award took place throughout the month of June and were accepted by the AVCA.

KVCA Selects New President


The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors have unanimously selected Daniel Cortner, head coach at Caldwell County High School, to become acting KVCA President effective immediately. Cortner replaces KVCA founder Mitzi Donhoff.  Donhoff will remain on the KVCA Board of Directors and continue to assist with the annual KVCA All-State selections. 

As President, Cortner becomes the chief executive officer of the Association.  Duties include control over business functions of the Association, preside over all Association meetings and events,administer and present the annual KVCA All-State Awards, and represent KVCA member coaches to the KHSAA and other organizations.

The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association (KVCA) is a proud member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Signature Affiliate Program.  The KVCA was established as an AVCA Affiliate Partner and now joins the New York Volleyball Coaches Association and the Nebraska Coaches Association-Volleyball as AVCA Signature Affiliate states. The AVCA Signature Affiliate Program was established in 2015 and is designed to incentivize AVCA membership, advance the high school volleyball community, and establish the AVCA as the official coaching education partner with the states that participate in the program.
